Judith Affolter, originally cultural anthropologist and film scholar (lic.phil. University of Zurich 2012) and cultural manager, reoriented herself professionally at the beginning of 2023 and came across the “reading dog” – a method that still inspires her today. She completed her reading dog diploma in March 2023 and has been working as a freelance reading dog team with her dog ever since.

Since September 2023, she has been studying the extensive and practice-oriented CAS course “Animal-assisted Interventions” at the HES-SO Fribourg, University of Applied Sciences for Health, and will complete it in spring 2025.

Since the beginning of November 2023, she has been employed as a socio-pedagogical, dog-assisted companion at mea via Begleitungen , for children and adolescents with special needs.

Judith and Artemis live centrally in the city of Zurich and work in Zurich and the surrounding region, as well as in Eastern Switzerland.

In addition to German (and Swiss German), she speaks fluent English and Spanish.

Artemis, medium sized sterilized female, mixed breed from the streets of Romania, born in 2019 and came to Judith in Switzerland at the age of 5 months, disease and accident free, chipped, vaccinated and insured.

She is very people-oriented, approachable, cuddly, playful, affectionate, very obedient and especially loves children and teenagers. Otherwise rather anxious and jumpy – with other larger dogs, with noise, vacuum cleaners, street cleaners, fireworks etc.

She has been a certified and passionate reading dog since March 2023. Her therapy dog training is being planned.

“Artemis” means the Greek goddess of hunting, as well as the protector of women and children – our Artemis does not do justice to the former, but she can guarantee the latter.
